Description:
Group Case Conferencing and Reflection is a monthly gathering of up to eight interpreters who, with the help of a trained facilitator, will use the demand-control schema as the common framework and language for work analysis. Supervision is an evidence-based reflective process for skill development, examining strategies to be more effective, improvement of overall quality of work, and supporting the wellbeing of the interpreter.
It is a way to reflect on your work as an interpreter. You will come together with a group of other working professionals to share and discuss sticky situations that come up in your day-to-day practice. The trained facilitators will guide the group through processing a particular case and brainstorming options for future encounters, working towards the goal of making your work more effective.

✔️ Skills to structure and discuss interpreting events using dialogic work analysis

✔️ Hands-on experience presenting and reflecting on real cases

✔️ Tools for using validation to support growth and change

✔️ An introduction to Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques

✔️ Practice leading and participating in meaningful supervision conversations

Educational Objectives:
1. To learn how to identify and structure dialogue about the interpreting event using the dialogic work analysis.

2. To gain practice and experience in case presenting

3. To understand the importance of validation in supervision and how to use it as a technique in encouraging behavioral change.

4. To learn about Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques.

5. To use validation, MI, and other interaction dynamics to lead supervision
