Position Overview
Join the Sign Language Studios team and help provide equitable communication access across a variety of settings.
Location: Middle Tennessee (In-Person — not a remote position)
Schedule: Monday–Friday; occasional evenings & weekends
Salary: $50,000–$60,000 (based on experience, education, and certification)
Note: This position is local. Relocation assistance is not provided.
The Staff Interpreter provides professional American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services for Deaf, DeafBlind, Deaf Disabled, Hard of Hearing, and Late-Deaf individuals across a variety of settings. This role also supports internal operations and contributes to mentorship and team collaboration.
Essential Job functions
Interpret between ASL and English across diverse settings (K–12, medical, business, post-secondary, mental health, and more)
Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant materials
Travel to on-site assignments throughout Middle Tennessee
Represent Sign Language Studios with professionalism and cultural awareness
Support scheduling and administrative tasks when not on assignments
Mentor interns as assigned
Follow RID Code of Professional Conduct and agency policies
education & Qualification Requirements
Interpreter Training Program (ITP) completion or equivalent experience
National Certification or EIPA 4.0 preferred
Strong ASL/English interpreting and transliteration skills
Knowledge of ethical standards (RID CPC)
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Valid Tennessee driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation

The Screening Process
We want to make joining our team as smooth and meaningful as possible. Our screening process helps us get to know you, your experience, and your interpreting style so we can make the best matches for you and our clients.
Here’s what to expect:
Create an Account – Follow the link below to set up your profile and begin the screening.
Upload Your Documentation – Submit your certifications, resume, and any supporting materials requested.
Complete Video Vignettes – You’ll interpret three short vignettes that showcase your skills and approach.
Review & Follow-Up – Once we receive your screening, our team will review your materials and contact you with next steps. This process may take 2–4 weeks, depending on volume.
