10am - 1pm CT / 11am - 2pm ET
0.3 PS CEUs
Presented in English
Workshop Description:
Have you ever questioned your abilities or felt like you didn't truly belong? Do you hesitate to step into leadership or mentoring roles because you're unsure if you're "ready"? Maybe you've turned down assignments you were qualified to accept because self-doubt got in the way.
If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone. These feelings are often rooted in Imposter Syndrome—a common experience that can affect confidence, decision-making, professional growth, and overall well-being.
In this interactive workshop, Tiffany Lloyd will guide participants through understanding what Imposter Syndrome is, why it happens, and how it shows up in our work as interpreters and professionals. Through guided discussion, self-reflection, and practical activities, you'll gain tools to recognize your inner critic, challenge limiting beliefs, and build greater confidence in your skills and experience.
Whether you're new to the profession or have years of experience, this workshop offers practical strategies to help you move beyond self-doubt and embrace your professional strengths.
Educational Objectives:
Participants will be evaluate their own strengths and areas needing growth
Participants will contextualize their inner critic and learn tools to manage it
We will discuss the impact of social media and Imposter syndrome in relationship to individual mental health and resources available to interpreters for mental health support
We will analyze the necessary skills that make an interpreter effective
We will apply these tools, skills, and knowledge to specific scenarios in the interpreting field (this includes ethical discussions about accepting assignments that are appropriate for our skillset.)
