This workshop provides interpreters with a clear, practical guide to estate planning—an essential process for protecting both personal and professional legacies.
Participants will learn how to organize their financial, legal, and intellectual assets using tools such as:
Wills
Beneficiary designations
Powers of attorney
The session addresses common myths, including the belief that estate planning is only for the wealthy, and highlights how interpreters’ unique contributions—such as workshops, recordings, and YouTube channels—can be preserved for future generations.
Through relatable case studies and straightforward strategies, attendees will gain an understanding of how to:
Align professional values with long-term planning
Ensure their wishes are honored
Leave a lasting impact on their families and the interpreting community
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the Core Elements of Estate Planning: Participants will be able to identify key components of an effective estate plan, including wills, beneficiary designations, and powers of attorney, and explain how each tool functions to protect personal and professional assets.
2. Apply Estate Planning Concepts to the Interpreting Profession: Participants will learn how to incorporate unique professional materials such as workshops, webinars, recordings, and YouTube channels into their estate plans to preserve intellectual property and sustain their contributions to the interpreting community.
