Self Evaluation & You: Remote Interpreting Skills Development
Presented by Danielle Meder
October 15, 2026
6-8pm CT / 7-9pm ET
0.2 PS CEUs
Workshop Description:
Interpreters make countless decisions in the course of a single encounter, and each one depends on a multitude of factors. Working remotely often means working alone, without a team or colleague nearby to debrief with, which makes self-evaluation even more critical to growth. But where does one start? This workshop introduces a structured self-evaluation tool that gives remote interpreters a tangible way to assess their performance, identify strengths, and target areas for development. Interpreters who build a regular self-evaluation practice not only sharpen their own skills but also demonstrate the professionalism and value they bring to every team they work with.
Educational Objectives:
After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:
Apply a self-evaluation tool designed specifically for remote interpreting skill development.
Practice reflective, non-judgmental questions to use during self-assessment.
Explain why self-evaluation is essential for remote interpreters and how it supports communicative autonomy for all parties.
Presenter Bio:
Danielle Meder is a nationally certified ASL interpreter with over 20 years in VRS and video remote interpreting as an interpreter and operations leader. Danielle is a licensed trainer and co-author of The Remote Interpreter International for Cross Cultural Communications, and the author of The Remote Interpreter Self-Evaluation Manual: A Comprehensive Guide to Professional Development and Performance Assessment.
