Workshop Description:
Video remote interpreting (VRI) agencies vary widely in their commitment to quality and equitable access. As ASL interpreters, where you choose to work matters—your time and expertise shape industry standards. This workshop provides a framework for evaluating VRI providers, identifying red flags and best practices, and making informed decisions about which agencies deserve your professional commitment.

Identify VRI agency practices that support or undermine equitable language access
Apply strategic communication frameworks to influence agency policies and procedures
Engage effectively with cross-modal VRI providers to advance industry-wide standards
Presenter Bio:
Danielle Meder is a nationally certified ASL interpreter with over 18 years in VRS and video remote interpreting as an interpreter and operations leader. She completed the Certificate in Healthcare Interpreting program at RIT-NTID in 2017. Danielle is a licensed trainer and is currently co-authoring a textbook, The Remote Interpreter International published in 2023.. Danielle is passionate about advocating for quality and effective language access, supporting the advancement of interpreter training for spoken language interpreters, and supporting the communicative autonomy of all! Currently, Danielle works for Equiti telehealth language solutions organization.
